This program looks amazing. I haven't tested it yet, but it appears you can do frame editing of VOB files without demuxing them first, or converting to AVI first! Its unbelievable.
It seems too good to be true at this point.
I've been wanting an easy way to splice together favorite movies scenes from my action DVD's.

Yes, it is realy good and very fast. Editing is also like heaven.
What i'm missing is the ability to put more then one Audio-Stream and a Subtitle-Stream into the Video.

Say you have 3 clips (IFOs, BUPs, VOBs) with multiple audio and subtitle streams and want to use DVD Author. With IFOEdit you can do this:

1) Make a menu with 3 tracks and use very short clips.
2) Move all the VIDEO_TS files to the folder with the 3 clips.
3) Open VIDEO_TS.IFO/VMG_PTT_SRPT and specify the chapters for each titleset.
4) Save file and Get VTS sectors.
5) Open each VTS.IFO/VTS_PGCITI/VTS_PGC_1 and add a Post Command (CallSS VMGM) Call VMG title-menu, Resume Cell = 0. Save each file.

For the Play All button to work properly, copy all the post commands (step 5) from each IFO file created with DVD Author to the 3 titleset IFOs. (Use hex copy & paste)

I agree its really good. I am using it to edit mpeg-2 files, even if it can only output vob files, its much easier to use it and demux afterwards than using any other mpeg editing software i tried until know.

I tried the new version and indeed the clip editing is great. I was able to take a MPG2 file I recorded in realtime with my ATI AIW Radeon capture card and quickly remove the commercials. The resulting DVD had chapters at the breaks and it was seamless playback. I also tested joining MPG2 segments into one title and that worked too, though when played back there is a short (<1sec) pause at the join mark, kind of like a layer change pause on regular DVDs. Audio sync was maintained both with cutting and joining edits too. I am impressed, none of the other DVD authoring programs I have tried have this ability and its what I wanted for recording TV programs but removing commercials easily before burning on DVD. I now can do the same thing on my PC that it would take a standalone $700 Panasonic E80H DVD recorder to do!

One of the nice things about this program is it will output a flawless mpeg from a vob, and do it fast.

Would it be possible to use subrip on the original video_Ts folders to extract subtitles and then mux them back in the tmpgenc dvd author result?

I have an idea where to start but I guess i'm not good enough to make it happen...

I noticed a very strange "Bug" in the edit dialog. When I use fast forward it shows a different set of clips than if I use "play". Is that weird or what?
I noticed it when there were extra scenes in my finished movie that I didn't have a chapter defined for. I thought wow I totally missed that scene, why didn't I put a chapter for it? So I went back to reauthor it, and during fastfoward in the edit scene dialog those scenes never show up! I then compared the timecode on the finished DVD using power dvd 5 and the timecode shown in the edit window inside Tmpg DVD Author, and they show different clips at the same time. ??
I then noticed if I start from the beginning and slowly move forward, the missing scenes show up in tmpg dvd author. soooooo what's going on? sounds like a bug!

I think, it's a Bug. In fast forward Mode, it jumps only to I- and P-Frames. And i guess, it don't detect GOPs with an other than the Standard-Lenght. So, sometimes, complete GOPs aren't shown.

Ifoedit does something like that too when peviewing cells - quite often the you see bits of the next cell showing up.

It only shows I frames as this is where chapter points are inserted for flawless playback.
If you auto insert chapters, you will see it do this.
Great program btw.
