i always burn/copy my vcd at it's maximum speed, nothing strange ever happens to the video; but some people says burning over 4x will cause there movie to be jerky (or something) when watching it on there dvd player.

my opinion, burn at the highest speed you can, watch it on your dvd player, if nothing happens, keep burning at that speed.

I've had problems with VCD's burnt at high-speeds. Sometimes my DVD player won't play them, other times they play fine until I try to fast-forward or pause.

Although sometimes 24x VCD's work, I always burn them at 8x - just to be safe.

Like dani82 says, burn one as fast as you can and try it, but also try to skip around the VCD to see if it stays OK.
