The other free way i've been using to automatically shutdown my computer (under Windows XP) is by using the Windows Task Scheduler to execute the shutdown.exe (included in jonny's Enc1.03 link here (http://jonny.leffe.dnsalias.com/enc/) ) at a specific time. ;)

In fact there are dozens of free shutdown programs available. E.g. I use mrShutdown and a small Windows app called Shutdown (the author must have been very creative in naming...).
