For some reason that I just cannot figure out, everytime I backup a DVD, the MPEG files are fine but the 2nd bin image is always short. Anybody have any idea what I may be doing wrong. Is there a setting i'm missing somewhere? I'm using DVD2SVCD to rip and convert and VCDXBuild for the image files. I've tried VCDImager and get the same problem though.

TIA

What do you mean by short? How many megs are they off?

don't use TMPGEnc ...use CCE instead
and if you are using CCE then don't use 1 pass VBR.

I would prefer not to use CCE due to the logo thing.

To answer the first question, I would say it's cutting off about the last 10 minutes of the movie, on average.

when dvd2svcd is calculating the bitrate it makes sure it stays within the CVD/SVCD standards.

so for example if the video is 50 >= 76 then 1 CD.
but if the movie is 77 mins or a little bit more, you would end up with a average bitrate of 2416 for 2 CDs. This is over the standard, so dvd2svcd ignores the average setting and uses the max average.

thats probably why your getting a smaller filesize on the second CD image.

so, if your player supports XSVCD (non-standard SVCD) then just increase the maximum and maximum average settings on the bitrate tab of dvd2svcd.
