View Full Version : how do I select 'quarter pixel' and 'use GMC' encoding options in GK?

Anyone know how I can select 'Use Quarter Pixel' and 'Use GMC' in the DivX5 codec settings, just before I encode in Gordian Knot 0.28.5? With the guide I am using, it states that they should be enabled when I encode, yet it doesnt state what they stand for or do exactly (DivX Digest GK guide).

It seems that I can only select one option, 'Bidirectional Encoding', from this particular list for first and nth passes, but I need these other two enabled also (the Digest guide tells me), and I'm sure I've installed GK correctly. GK just won't let me select them.

What are these options, and where are the files that enable them supposed to be kept in GK if they are they included in the pack? I've downloaded 'GK CodecPack.1.4', and 'GK .RipPack.0.28.5', but can't find whatever prog that enables these options.

Please help somebody- and if the answer is so blatantly obvious, then point that out too (erm- and why)... thanks!

ok firstly before someone else says so i would STRONGLY reccomend reading the doom9.org guide first i think the divx digest one is out of date then the answer should become obvious.

if not then all u do is after uve pressed save and encode go to the video tab and then click on the 1st pass setting and the divx 5 dialog box comes up choose QPEL and GMC or whatever u want (although qpel is supposedly not reccomended) and then close it then do the same for the nth pass settings box

Seriously tho look at the doom9 guides

hope this helps

Hi-

You can also go to the Options Tab of GKnot and set them up as Defaults. If using DivX5, go to the Profiles Tab (making sure that you leave "1-Choose Your Profile" unchecked), and check what you want. If using XviD, go to the Global Tab and check what you want.

...but I need these other two enabled also (the Digest guide tells me)

No you don't.
