CCE Crash

Recently, whever I try to encode, there is a crash when Video Encoding begins and CCE is called. It causes an exception. I have tried reinstallin both DVD2SVCD and CCE but it still persists. Has anyone else encounterd this. Any suggestions?

Try giving the search button a good workout, there seem to be lots of people who have had CCE crashing type problems.

Have you tried checking "add resampleaudio" in the frameserver tab?

CCE really gives the old computer a workout, if it's not absolutely stable this stuff happens. Don't Overclock anything if you're having troubles.

So difficult to help you as you made no mention of the version of DVD2SVCD you were using, the version of Avisynth, the version of CCE, what you source is, etc., etc., etc. Please see the post in the forum on how to make a post. Then folks can help you.

I apologise for the lack of detail. I wuz a bit frustrated since i had tried reinstalling the prggie a few times and even tried reg cleana nd other stuff. Please excuse me. I am using CCE 2.50 and the latest vesrion of DVD2SVCD (1.1.3 b2) I am also using avisynth 2.51. But that question by DDogg set me thinking, I have read on some posts that avisynth 2.51 is potentially buggy, so I'll go back to 2.08 and give it a try. Please lemme know if I need to give any other info that will make this helpful.

My source is a ripped DVD (Files already on my HDD) Animation content NTSC. My comp is faily new, and fast, A P4 1.3 GhZ with 640 Megs o Rams, so I dont think a taxed machine is the problem.

STOP! :)

Do not start changing avisynth versions. 2.5x is fine. All that changing crap around is going to do is just confuse the issue. In fact, just to be safe de-install and re-install just so we know a bunch of stuff has not been randomly changed in your tinkering around. Do a search on CCE crashing or something like that. Read, read, read.

Run the process from the start using your ripped vobs. If CCE fails, stop, have patience and first try to "play" the avs in mplayer2 or VDub and let us know if it does play. If not let us know what the error is, probably red text on black. POST your avs script and your logfile, so people can see them and try to help. Don't change stuff around after you post. If you will do all these things we will get it figured out.

Oh, and get beta 7 from the avi2svcd sticky up top, or wait a couple of days and get the new version that should be out very soon.

Gotcha. I just reinstalled and am running it again. Will post the error and logfile if and when I get it. The error seems to ge a general exception. when the avd file is ready to be processed it accesses an bad memory location (0xfffff..) It goes thru every thing else fine, when the encoding begins, dvd2svcd initially converts the pics for beginning of mivie and cd change first and then tackles the avs, thats when the exception occurs and the program hangs.

Anyway, I'll post the log here in a few hours.

Before we go any further, please install the new version that came out today (DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 build 1) so I will have the same version as you are using. BTW, did the AviSynth_Script_file.avs play in VDub or mplayer2?

It doesn't give any error it just freezes.

DaHuberHerbert, so did you do any of the steps that were mentioned? What happens when you try to play the avs in mplayer2 or VDub? What happens when you manually run CCE and drag and drop the avs script in to it? Heck, man, you did not even post the version of CCE you are using. I am assuming 2.5, if so, is resample audio checked in your frameserver tab? I don't know what CPU you are using and this is a problem with certain cpus.

My CPU is a old Thunderbird 1GHz,the CCE Version is indeed 2.5
If manually drag and dropped to CCE it crashes too
resample audio is automaticly checked in Version 1.2.1 B1
And VirtualDub doesn't want to play it
(says no codec for Divx - don't know why)

Only after I have installed the most recent version of DVD2SVCD I have been experiencing problems when encoding with CCE 2.5. I have not had these problems ever before. My system is absolutely stable (Intel P4 3GHzHT, IntelMB - no overclocking - 2 GB DualDDR RAM). The interesting thing is that CCE does not crash until it has reached the second pass, but then always at exactly the same point with a given movie (e.g. with movie A after 11 seconds, with movie B after 13 minutes and 3 seconds, and so on). Downsample audio 48.000-44.100 kHz is unchecked as I do not want this, however, from what I can see in the AVS log downsampling is done anyway.
Any ideas ?

After heaving read all the postings it seems rather clear to me that Version 1.2.1 B1 has a major bug in connection with CCE.

Erich99, or perhaps it is the operator. It 2.5 works for me quite well with some short tests using multipass. Perhaps I have not done or tried what you are doing? Maybe post your log so we can try to help you.

#1 thing always to try when/if CCE crashes is to play the AVS file in VirtualDUB. Either it'll play the movie or you'll get an error message you can work with. Also remember:

CCE 2.5 and 2.67 can read AVS scripts directly. All other versions (2.62 - 2.66) must use a frameserver like VFAPI or Link2!

@Erich99: How can you say that it's buggy since I know it works for thousands of users? Let me decide if it's a bug or not. It's ok to report these things, but don't call it a bug because you're really not in a position to do that.

With so many reasons and explainations for crashes, I wonder if CCE is just picky about the health of your system (both hw/sw).

I guess my system is healthy: I've used a number of CCE versions, and I never get crashes! (except when source/avs is bad). 2.50 has been trouble free.

With D2S 1.1.3, I even used the last of the CCE 2.64 series (with avs support),
and ditto for CCE 2.66 - both without frameserving - never a problem. (havent tried those two with D2S 1.2.1 yet, though).

I have now tried CCE 2.66 (with EclCCE) instead of CCE 2.50, and the problem no longer comes up. So, one can guess now: is CCE 2.5 not compliant with 1.2.1b1 or is 1.2.1b1 not compliant with CCE 2.5. As I said before, CCE 2.5 worked fine with the previous version(s) of D2S. So, is there a bug somewhere, or is this just a bad coincidence?
(BTW, the AVS files could be played back in VirtualDub in any case).

i have fixed this problem for myself i think..............

all i needed to do was reboot!!!!!

i thought it was a bit weird, as i did my first dvd2svcd ok then when i went to do the second it failed at cce stage.

then a couple of days later i thought i would do dvd to dvd using dvd2svcd.........i wanted to to re-encode a movie to 2.2gb for a multi project..........it worked brilliantly using 2 pass vbr.

so i thought i would do the second film for my project straight after.....i went to work then........when i got back it failed it cce stage????

so i rebooted and tried again just using the vob's already ripped by dvd2svcd (all other output from previous session deleted) and it worked fine. cce fired straight up and never hung.

so it now seems i have to reboot after each dvd2svcd/cce session to get it to work....so it could be my system?

has anyone else tried 2 svcds or dvds on the trot without rebooting in between?

tried using cce 2.67 trial and it does the exact same

I have the same problem with it stalling on the second video encode but only with season 4 of Sex in the City. I put in another disc (an anime one) and that one is encoding normally. I will try to install the newest version of DVD2SVCD as I'm using 1.1.3 build 2 now and version 2.5 of CCE. I don't want to switch versions of CCE and would rather just upgrade DVD2SVCD.

Okay, I installed the latest DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 build 2, installed DiVX 5.1 and it still stalls when trying to encode the mpv, but only on the Sex In the City discs. It's very odd. No error messages or anything.
