Backing up the Sopranos

What is the easiest way to do this? I am currently trying to use recode with 62 compression for the main movie. Do you think there will be considerable quality loss. I really don't want to split every single dis c into two seperate ones.

recode, dvdshrink, cloneDVD, instantCopy 7 or 8, Dvdcopy Xpress.

62% is acceptable, I've droped down to 50% without a problem.

Then again it all has to do with personal preference.

Shrink is free, burn with nero. :)

I believe Sopranos has a total of 13 episodes per season split across 4 DVD's. The first 3 contain 4 episodes and the last one contains 1. What I ended up doing was doing a full DVD copy with Recode compression at 62% (I also tried to see how they looked with Shrink and Instant Copy but they looked the same to me) for the first DVD keeping the menus and all but for the remaining 9 episodes, I put 3 episodes per DVD (using DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5 to reauthor) allowing me to keep those 9 episodes at 92%.

You know....i cant really understand why everyone goes through so much trouble burning movies....recode compression this and demux that.....why care about this stuff....now i do know and understand that some people are passionate about the things they do....and thats fine....but if there is an easier way....and it looks just as good.....why go through all the trouble....i have a collection of dvd's to die for....over 400 backups....dvd decryptor....the all mighty DVD2ONE V1.2.3....and record now....i have season 1,2 and 3 of sopranos.....all done in full disc mode....when i compared my copy to the original....its perfect....to each his own on perfect....most of my backups are not done in full disc mode....only because it wasnt available when i started burning.....i'd say i have about 60 that are in full disc.....and those copies are great.....keep in mind....if you are looking for quality loss....most likely you will find it...even if there is none....but that goes with anything in life...to each his own

So how about doing a little more "giving" in this backup community instead of "receiving". There's a lot of newbie people who would "benefit" from all your experience. ;)

i never use any other way....the only problem i have run into is with DVD2ONE....some movies (very very rare) will just not compress to 4.36 when done in full disc mode.....no big deal though....you just do movie only instead......this way is the best way imo

I see cubes all over the TV screen from 20 feet away. It is true that some people don't see the compression artifacts. I guess you're one of them. You also don't mind...using...non....standard...punctuation...for...sentences...when...normal...punctuation......would....suffice.....

I'm with the Senior guys on this one.

You may not see much of a difference now, but wait until you get that big (or bigger) screen TV, that progressive scan DVD player, etc. etc.

Get yourself a 19" monitor, load up some snapshots from a couple of transcodes and compare them to the original. Detail gets lost, images become softer, etc. I did, and now I rip as many of the extras as I can before processing the main movie. The extras can go on cDVDs, where they'll never be seen again... ;)
