Replacing an audio track

I have this problem I'd really like to be able to solve.
I used dvd shrink to backup one dvd. Everything works fine, and the way it's supposed to. Now, there's this music video I like, and I want to replace it's original 2 channel ac3 track with a 6 ch track I made using ambisonic.
So what I did is I demuxed the vob id's of the respective vob, extracted the video and audio streams, replace the audio with the one I want, make another vob with ifoedit, rejoined that with the other vob id's with vobedit and put the main vob back in its place. It plays OK, exept that it stops before it's supposed to. Several seconds before the end of the video, it goes back to the features menu. It just cuts it short.
I checked the vob I made and its fine, the whole video plays nice from start to finish, I also checed the final vob, the one that contains all the features including this music video and everything seems to be allright. But as I said, it cuts the video short.
I just started using ifoedit for a wile, and I'm still not familiar with it.
I don't know if I can do something with it to fix this, I suppose I could, but I just don't know what, and how.
So do you think this can be done?

Though I don't have any fix for you, I have a feeling maybe this post would get better responses in the "Audio Encoding" forum. Now, I'm not an audio expert but there's something about your ambisonic 6-ch track you created...

No, I don't think the guys in the audio forum can help me more.
The track I have is a normal ac3 file, encoded with ac3enc. Ambisonic was used to create the 6 mono wav files. Its a valid DD 5.1 file.
And as I said before, it plays nice when watching the vob in PowerDVD. In fact, can't see any difference between the original .VOB and the new one.

Don't really know what to do but I know where I'd start.
AS I remeber from Virtual Dub either the audio follows the Video or the other way around. That means there is some frame matching done somewhere in a file - sync - timing or whatever you want to call it.
Try getting the exact time length of one of the wave files before conversion to AC3. Compare that to the end time of the AC3 shown in PowerDVD when playing the AC3 file alone. Try the MV2 alone in PowerDVD too and see the ending time of that. Are they all exactly the same ? Try muxing the center wave with the MV2 to an mpg stream and seeing if that goes out of sync. Try it in VitualDub-mpeg.

If you de-mux'd from VOB-ID to VOB-ID then recombine, you might be throwing the IFO's info off in the DVD player.

This is kinda conjecture, but don't you set the number of channels per stream in the IFO itself? Re-MUX'ing will be based on the size of the data as compared to the rest of the content, and it might be thinking that the end of the file is early because the frame count reached the target but its not actually the end of the file due to larger size.

If the VOB itself plays correctly, its gotta be an IFO problem. You're best bet is to remux the audio for the whole vob, set the channels in IFOedit on that VTS, and check it out. You can't mix 2 ch and other ch audio in a single VTS methinks, or at least Maestro doesn't let me :)

It should likewise be easy to just MUX in the new track as the 2nd audio stream of that class, and set it up in IFOedit. Just switch streams with the remote's Audio button and call it an easter egg :sly:

You might be right there, I don't know, but I tryed a lot of things before posting, and nothing worked.
Let me say exactly what i did.
I have the vts_02_1.vob witch contains all the extras, including the music video.
So I load that in vobedit, demux, and check vob ID. I end up with over 500 little vobs. Now most are empty, just a few kb in size, only 6 of them are larger. First 3 and last 3. I found vts_02_544.vob to be the music video.
Now, using again vobedit I extract the video and audio. Then in IfoEdit, Author new DVD, choose the m2v file, and the 6ch ac3 I created earlyer. So I rename this vob to vts_02_544.vob, move it along with the others, and Join CellVob files in vobedit. It creates another vts_02_1.vob.
I load them both in PDVD and they are the same.
But just for the sake of it, I created a new ifo for both of them, and compare them.
The new ifo of the original vob, has 9 pgc, with pgc7 being the music video, and the ifo of the newly created vob has 8 pgc, with nr 1 being the video. I don't know what's going on.

This looks strange. I mean they(the vobs) taken separately, look and behave exactly the same, yet their ifos are totaly different.

this sounds interesting - I got a little diffrent scenario with less sucsess:

Author a new DVD with IFOEDIT but the one I replace is the AC3 2.0 track with a padding DTS Track Ambisonic (of course 32/48) so again two tracks AC3 5.1 (original) plus this new one

then checked this out with the latest WINDVD (5.1) and guess what happens:
the only track one can chose and hear is the AC3 :confused:
Media Player Classic totally strikes services :angry:

if I could solve this problem I´ll be confronted with the original chapter settings...

May someone could help ;)
