AVI player for IEE1394 output

Hi,

Does anyone know of a small & simple player (such as Media Player or WinAmp with the video plugin) that instead of outputting video to the computer monitor, will pipe the signal to a IEEE 1394 card. No need for simultaneous output to both.
The video in question is already encoded to DV. I am tired of having to fire up Premiere every time I want to check a small clip to see if the output is good.

(A computer monitor can't show if the field order is bad, output to IEEE1394 will tell me within a few seconds, but Premiere takes between 1 & 2 minutes to start - grrr:angry: )

WinDV (http://windv.mourek.cz/) has an output mode that I think should do what you want.

This is what I use. Hopefully it is just what you are looking for. I just drag my dv.avi onto it and watch the results on my TV hooked to my dvcam. May not be real time though depending on your machine.

WinDV : Record & Play IEEE1394. Play gives on screen preview. Type or browse for file.
DVIO : Record & Play IEEE1394. No on screen preview. Type or browse for file.
DVapp : Could not get this to work.

Video2DV : Have not yet tried it, but drag'n'drop :) ! I'll have to check if it needs to render an AVI that is already DV...

In any case, browsing for a file is quicker than starting Premiere !

Video2DV : Works very well, but seems to need a short lead in, it misses about the first 1/2 second. Also, the drag and drop only works to the desktop icon - it won't let you drop an AVI on top of the already open program. How weird!
Deosn't seem to need rendering for a file that is already DV. If it did, it was pretty quick about it. MPEG encoding in another program at the same time didn't cause it to stutter.
Needed "Check DV file" was on for sound to work.

Me again...

I have tried to contact the author of Video2DV to ask about the drag'n'drop issue (if anyone considers there to be one), but my email keeps bouncing.

Perhaps someone knows an updated address, or perhaps he will read this himself!
