Two questions.
1.In cce under gop, do i need to have close all gops ticked ?
2.If useing a standard Multipass should i still leave the bias as what reauthorist sets it to?

1.
See paceri's answer (should be ticked only if you want to use the M2v file in a multi-angle DVD)
2.
I don't know what formulas RA applies. The default in CCE is 30. I wouldn't change this unless bitrate is really low (like below 3000 kbps) in which case I would use a lower value.

OK, Thanks.

RB, since his question is answered let me ask you a slightly different one on the same subject. I am having a devil of a time understanding bias. Maybe you could help me out? Also, what would you recommend for my 1 cd OPV/RoBa experiments? Say bitrate less than 1000?

Thanks, but note I asked specifically about sub 1000 BR. If it is predictable then I guess it would be 7-8 but that does not sound quite right.

Again, thanks, and yes I have read that (many times). However, I am still having problems understanding that very basic information within the context of a particular bitrate. In this case a very low experimental bitrate. Somebody recently suggested we should even consider playing around with Bias=0 when experimenting with this low a bitrate. At some stage, given the limited "headroom" one is working within, it may be that a reversal in direction of bias might yield a better encode. I just don't know.
Would you have any specific information on that topic from your experience? If not perhaps RB might.

DDogg, I must admit I don't have any "magic" formula either. I usually leave the VBR Bias at 30 for my DVD-R encodes above 4000 kbps, I set it to 20 for lower bitrates. For very low bitrates such as below 1000 kbps, I would definitely try setting Bias to zero.

RB, thanks. I think I may have figured out (read conjectured) that bias doesn't do much at those low of Brs as it is too constrained to work. No tests or data, just a gut feel.
