I right now got an avertv pci card and I capture with nice quality with iuvcr from digital satellite source and I capture directly to Xvid or divx.

I was thinking about upgrading my pc and want to buy a Canopus ADVC-100. But I was not sure that with that card I could capture with those apps (iuvcr or v-dub) and not again sure if i could compress to xvid-divx on the fly.

Could someone confirm that this is possible?
Would I get better result with Canopus ADVC-100?

The Canopus ADVC-100 uses firewire and therefore captures in DV. This means that compression on the fly is not recommanded. Vdub cannot capture through firewire. However, it will accept type 2 DV files. Among other programs, you can use DVIO or DVapp to capture DV.

Thank you very much yg1968 for your answer!
Actualy you saved me from doing a big mistake as I was about to pass the command and buy the card!

Please could you OR/AND anyone else help me and tell me what card is best to buy for on the fly capturing?

As said I got right now an Avermedia (avertv)pci capture card with bt878 chip. But I was hoping for some better quality.
