Finding the subtitles through a standalone

I have this dvd backup, and I'm trying to access the subtitles when I'm watching it on my standalone. I've tried it on mine, my friend's xbox, and another dvd player, and none of the times could i see the subs. I loaded it into powerdvd and found that the subs are there but I can't figure out how I get them to work when it's in a standalone. It says there are 4 subtitle sets and the third one is the one that actually makes them show up. If anyone has any ideas please feel free because I'm confused.

What happens when you use your remote's SubTitle button to toggle your subtitles? Does it let you toggle? And also, though I don't know if you kept your menus in your backup and if so, do your subtitles display when you select any?

I completely forgot about the subtitle button. It took me a couple times to figure out where i was in the list of subtitles because none of them are labeled in the backup, but I did find them. Thanks for the info. :D
