Hey everyone. I was wondering if someone could give me some help for my mate, he is in england.

He wants to know what hardware and software he needs to capture his camcorder mini dv tapes to computer. He has a sony cam.

If anyone knows of the things he needs, preferably a number of different types of hardware so that he has a choice and what he needs to do, that would be great!

Go to the DV Forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=59/) and run searches there on "capture", you'll find lots of good information. (Tip: On the search page, click the drop-down arrow next to "Search all open forums", and select "DV" from the list. You may have to scroll to find it.) Read the FAQ while you're there, also. If his pc is fairly new, it may have an on-board capture card, if not this is another issue, entirely. Your mate will probably want to come to Doom9 himself and submit his own specs and problems, he's put a large burden upon your shoulders. Another tip, you'll get better and faster help if you give your thread a good title. Read the rules, search, conduct some tests, and get back to us when you have a problem......we all do at times. :)
