newbie question, can´t play Xvid files

Hello!
Would like some help from you all.
Here´s the thing.

I can´t play Xvid-files on any of my players (WMP, Powerdivx etc.)
Never had any problems with it before, so I guess I messed something up. When I try to play the files, simply nothing happends.
I don´t get an error message. Just won´t start.
Tried different Xvid-codec, and codec-pack (Nemo etc).
What could be wrong?...a registry key or something?

Is there anyway I can do this without reinstalling my OS,
thats just to much work...

Stuff codec Packs...

All you need to install really is ffshow (video) and AC3filter and a DirectShow Ogg filter... I dont ever need anything more when decoding.

I also install HuffYUV for capturing.
