hi all

i have a dvb-s card and for some reason when i recorded with wtvp221 the film swordfish using timer function it started recording 5mins before film, now my problem is this the stuff recorded before the film started was in 4:3 and swordfish is 16:9 and as i thought its recorded it all in 4:3 now is there a way to get only swordfish in 16:9 without recoding it.

ive changed the aspect of the mpg to 16:9 but that squashes the image and makes people look short & stumpy.

if all else fails ill re record when it comes on again.

is there some way to crop without recoding?

thanks.

I had the same Problem with Final Fantasy.
I patched the Video with DVDPatcher to 16:9, than i used TMPGEnc DVD Author to cut away the wrong part and to produce the DVD.

hi & thanks i tried dvdpatcher and tmpgauthor to cut away what wasnt neded but the result is the same as before dvd is now in 16:9 but the process just squashes it vertically.

it looks like i need a way of getting to from 4:3 to 16:9 by just cropping the top and bottom of the 4:3 picture without re-encoding. Is it possible for somthing like dvdshrink or similar to add a crop function.

thanks.

I guess, the Video might be a letterboxed one. Then, it isn't 16:9 but 4:3 with black Bars.
