anyone got BT848 tuner cards???

the video wonder pro II.....i have this and have been tyring to use it with generic Bt drivers and dscaler but i get no sound , can anyone help at all??

I have a BT878 ... and in order to "get sound" one must use the correct physical connections; it's not driver related. I hope the following is clear and understandable.

Audio is processed by your sound card, not the capture card.

If using the RF tuner, one must connect a patch cord between the audio "line out" on the BT card and "line in" on your sound card. My card came with a short cable for this purpose. (I don't use the tuner, but I have the cable plugged in just in case.)

If using composite or S-video cable, neither have sound. You can either connect the audio directly to "line in" on your sound card, or, you can connect the audio to the "line in" on your capture card ... doing the latter will merely pass the audio through to "line out" ... and you'll use the patch cord as when using the TV tuner.

I tried to install generic drivers for my capture card and it made my system crash...What are the benefits anyways for having a generic driver for your capture card?

As I saw, BT8x8 chips have audio capture too. Somebody even recommended that capture audio always with same chip as video, because of sync. problems (difference in crystal clocl freq.)

But I never saw that it's possible. No driver which allows audio capture with BT 8x8 chips.

it can help when regular (driver suplied with card) has some limitations - for example allows not vertical res. over 288 pixel, what is case by Pinnacle cards.

I have a WinFast TV2000 XP deluxe card and I've been trying to capture video with VDubMod and it won't let me do a resolution higher than 320x240. When i use the program that came with it, i think it allows me to capture at a larger resolution. Is there any real advantage to using VDub to capture the video? Cause with the softward that came with my tuner card I can save the file as an umcompressed avi and then process it with vdub after. Thanks

i am using the audio out from the tuner card to the audio in of my soundcard, but i only get sound if i use the software that comes with the card...the bt848 i believe does have sound capture onboard that the bt878 does NOT

i get no sound thru winDVR3, not thru vegas4...

thats the website where i got my generic driver from...and it crashed my system. I'm still wary of using generic drivers cause i'm not the only one that uses this computer and if i mess it up...well yeah :D

If you are using the winfast tv2000xp I strongly recommend that you do not use the generic btwincap drivers as it will render your remote control completely useless.

If you have VIA chipset, please update the VIA 4in1 drivers to 4.49 or later.

Use the drivers that came with the card, or better yet, go to the leadtek website and update the drivers...there is also a newer version of WinfastPVR which also comes in handy for teletext support.

Using the software that came with the card and updating the drivers, I was able to capture at 768x576 in either mpeg1, mpeg2, huffyuv, mjpeg, xvid... you need to install the codecs for huffyuv, mjpeg and xvid if you want to capture to these formats.

You can also use VirtualVCR to capture at 768x576... I was not able to get Virtual Dub to capture at this resolution.

To save space and get decent quality I would recommend you use either mjpeg or mpeg2 at max bitrate, then recompress the captured video into xvid, divx or rv9.
