alas

i am encoding a music dvd (paco de lucia - light and shade) and when i found out the source audio was only a 2 channel 192kbps ac3, i decided to try out keeping the ac3 in the avi for the first time rather than take a quality hit recompressing to mp3 (i would usually do music dvds at 192 anyway)

i can not get any sound output from the avi - i searched all the forums and don't have any ideas, so am ready to ask for help:

i tried using 1xac3 in gknot + just mux, and i tried muxing the video file with the ac3 from dvd decrypter in avimux. i have installed valex's ac3 filter and i don't have morgan stream switcher. i looked in graphedit and the ac3filter is properly registered under directshow.

i have bumped around all the permutations and rebooted windows in bsplayer and ac3filter config (waveout etc) - and nothing makes a squeak. i am trying to use the spdif output because optimally i would like the ac3 stream to be decoded by my speakers (creative 5.1 digital 5700 on the coaxial).

the sound hardware is the nvidia soundstorm or whatever it is on an a7n8x deluxe, the one which puts out a dolby digital stream all the time.

does anyone have similar hardware and can get ac3 in avis working, or does anyone have any ideas to help?

go into the nforce control panel, and check if digital output is checked.

if you get no luck, check over at nforcershq.com

yes, have always used the digital output (otherwise why buy the inspire 5700?)

checking nforcershq now...
