I know it's a noob question but I would really like to know. Will I have to convert it to play it in my dvd? If I can play it would there be any problems?

Sorry, not directly, unless you have the hardware, which consists in a DVD Region free player, with a built-in PAL -> NTSC convertor.
Alternatively, you can use your computer to play them, which will only cause a region change on your dvd player (be warned that you can change the region only 5 times minus 1 which is the one that is already selected), and if you have a computer with a video card that has VIDEO OUT function, then, you can watch it on your TV......
So, if you want to convert the dvd, by making a backup of it, you should search for PAL DVD to NTSC DVD in this forum.
