I just got a WinFast Tv2000 xp deluxe Tv capture card and when i try play the capture in Windows Media Player, it says that the captured file either can't be played with WMP or is corrupt. I tried capturing different viedo formats (.avi, .mpg etc) to no avail. I think i found somewhat of a solution though...i tried opening one of the .avi files in DivX Player that comes with the codec and it gave me an interesting message:

The video type is unknown...it contains the following video data:

FOURCC Code "YUY2"

then it says i may need to install a new codec in order to view this file. I went to www.fourcc.org and there are soo many different codecs you can download so I don't know which one to download. Can anyone help? Thanks

YUY2 is a colorspace, not a codec. At a guess, you have captured in uncompressed AVI. You might find GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe) a helpful tool for analyzing .avi files.

yeah, one of the ones i tried was an uncompressed .avi. I was fooling around last night and I found that if i loaded the uncompressed .avi into VDub and processed it with a codec and some filters, I could then watch the movie in the Divx player. The quality wasn't the greatest though, so i'll try to look around for some guides as to a good way to process the avi after being captured. Thanks

Try the Capture Guide (http://www.doom9.org/capture/start.html) as your starting point.

I think your problem comes down to which format you captured your video to.

Use ffdshow and set it to decode 'huffyuv' and 'mjpeg'.

You can also set it to decode all 'raw videos', it should solve your playback problem.

to playback the mpg files, you might need to install an mpeg2 decoder...installing powerdvd should provide you with the necessary filters.

Since you are using the same card as me, it should come with drivers/direct show filters to decode mpeg2 files.

Go to leadtek website and update drivers.
