Hi all,

I'm fairly new to this DVD backup business having only recently got myself a DVD writer. So far I've had no problems backing up my movies (movie only) using DVDShrink. However I've recently hit a couple of snags.

This question has been asked before (I did do a search of the forums before writing) but the link supplied in reply to the question no longer seems to work. :( So apologies for the repeat.

I bought "A Time To Kill" last week, and it's a flipper disc. I wanted to back it up onto one DVD-R without any menu, so I can just stick the disc in and let it play. If possible I'd like to keep the chapter points, but it's not a necessity.

I read that DVDShrink 3 would do this "easily", so I downloaded the beta and tried it out. I get the whole thing about dragging and dropping titles and re-authoring the disc, but when I do that, it gives me 2 titles, and only the first will play. Obviously being a beta, there's no help file. I assume I'm missing something obvious, or I need to use one of these IFO/VOB editing programs?

Similarly, I also want to back up my Buffy/Angel/Babylon 5 box-sets (putting 2 episodes on a disc, no extras/menus) so that they will play through in sequence. I presume this will be achieved in much the same way as the flipper disc?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

DVDshrink 3.0 beta5 will work with your problems. (earlier betas had problems with reauthoring mode)

For Series discs just drag and drop the titles you want to have into the new window which opens after you have hit reauthor in DVDshrink.

If you want to have titles from two discs either you have to put them in two drives (if you have two drives) or you need to have them ripped to your harddrive (for exmaple with DVDdecrypter).

Then open up two instances of DVDshrink (one for each) and hit reauthor. Now simply drag and drop your titles into the new window.

For a flipper rip both sides to your HD (as i assume you have only one copy of that DVD) and proceed in the same way as described above.
You end up with two titles in the reauthoring window (title 1 = side 1 , title 2 = side 2)

Beware that you put the title you want to play first on the uppermost position in the new DVDshrink window.

With this method titles will be played in the order you have put them in the new Shrink-window, meaning after title 1 ends title 2 starts to play and so on.

If you want to navigate to title 2 directly, hit the title button on your remote of a standalone or in a software DVD-Player and choose the title you want to watch.
