i would appreciate any help on the following problem please

i have the following set up

AMD 2600XP 333
1.5GB DDR 400 SAMSUNG RAM
DVD-R/RAM LF-D310
CDRW LG 52-24-52
2 X 120GB ATA 133 HD (SEGATE OR MAXTOR)
ASUS NFORCE DELUXE MOTHERBOARD
128MB Ti4200 GFORCE 4 GFX

I have had this problem since i bought the dvd-ram in january this year

when i burn a dvd in prassi dvd the dvd burns fine but when played back on any standard dvd player it plays fine until anywhere from half way untill the end when it just stops and skips through to the menu again.

when i burn in nero it comes up with the following meassage
' there has been a possible read error which may cause a defective write would you like to continue'

when i do continue it locks up and i need to reboot the machine

i have tried the above with various dvd media and i have swaped the dvd-ram with my friends dvd-ram which is an identical model and the problem still persists

please help me

all the best

Try to rip and burn a DVD-5 movie. If it works, then the problem is
either authoring or encoding. It it doesn't work, then the problem is
either burning, disc, or your dvd player.

What dvd player do you have? Can it play DVD-Rs created by
others without problem? Maybe you should try to play the
disc you have burnt on other dvd player.

The error message looks like a disc or drive problem to me.

The LF-D310 needs be set on the Master bus, without DMA enabled.

If it's connected as slave, or if you have DMA enabled, read/write errors can occur.
