Canopus ADVC 100 - quick question

I am thinking of getting the Canopus ADVC-100 and have a few questions.
I've searched the forum and didn't find my answers (exactly).

BTW - my object is to convert home videos to DVD.

1. What file format does the Canopus end up creating on the PC?
2. What format will I need to change them to to write to a DVD? I have MyDVD at home (free with writer) will this work?

I thinks that's it for now.

The file format you'll get from the ADVC-100 is avi, with Canopus's DV compression (the compression is done inside the box).

The format for DVD is Mpeg-2. MyDVD can encode avi to Mpeg-2.

If your source is NTSC, be sure to use Xesdeeni's 411Helper for VirtualDub or trbarry's AviSynth filter before going to MPEG2.

Xesdeeni doesn't have an entry under AVI-VirtualDub in the list yet. Just saw that, I'll fix it with the next update.

You can also find discussion of both filters. I think Xesdeeni discussion is in the DV forum with a header about color correction, trbarry might be in AviSynth Development, maybe Usage. I don't remember.
