good settings for anime (animatrix)?

hi,

i wat to encode animatrix. since i never did anime, i could use some suggestions for xvid-settings.

the movie consists of several episodes, ranging from ultra-clean computer graphics over "regular" cartoon style to pencil-scribble-style.

i guess i will go for it and encode the different episodes one by one, since i did an encode with setting that i normally use for a clean real movie source and i found quite some ringing in some of the sequences. (did it @ quant 2 to get an impression..)

i think what matters the most in anime is the filters you use on your avs (there are some recent posts about it on the avisynth usage forum), the xvid settings you use to HQ movies should be right for anime too, the only thing i would suggest is h263 quant for less ringing

Trim the whole presentation into 2 parts per episode: the intro (the green letters with the title) and the ep itself, then process them all independently, putting them back together at the end. There's barely any processing needed, so simple Conv3D's will do the trick, where you'll just have to use the presets based on what your input is. That's all that's to it, now I don't remember if I sharpened it or not when I worked on it, but that's personal preference anyway. Anime xvid settings are easy like ssj said, just the normal optimals (2 b-frames, etc), and use h.263. If you're going for 2cd HVS best might even be nice :D :D.
