I got a problem with an old Xvid file that won't play.
Someone told me that installing ffdshow and enabling the "old Xvid interlacing bug" feature will solve this.
And here is the problem: I can't enable it. Nearly the whole misc. section is ghosted and I simply can't turn it on.

I bet there is a very simple solution to this, but I don't get it.

my config: ffdshow build 4668 May 23., uManiac codec Feb 24. and Win98SE

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

I don't know for sure, but I bet that is because you are using win98...
If I remember correctly, many options in ffdshow are available only on nt-based systems.
About this "deinterlacing bug"-option: You can use ffdshow (libavcodec) to decode your XviD-movies, just check XviD under "Codecs" (not "Use XviD").
Maybe this solves your problem...
You could also investigate if there is a win98-version of ffdshow available...

I have a little codec pack in my little web page in www.alxemi.cjb.net
It is to play OGM files, and it includes OGGds, ffdshow, ac3filter and bsplayer.
The ffdshow version that is included i think is the last that is 100% w98 compliant (i use it)
I hope it helps, and welcome to the forum :)

eps mi server seems to be down, sorry but happens sometimes... try in the mornings (spanish time)
