Hi, I'm after some suggestions from people more experienced than me about what would be a reasonable amount to raise the centre channel when downmixing a 5.1 AC3 to a 2 channel file.
I often feel that dialogue is just a little too low in the mix for me, I gather the centre channel largely handles the dialog and just want to increase it a little when downmixing but am unsure what a good value is. I was thinking of using 1db but I'm not sure if this would even make a noticeable difference. I'd be glad to hear some suggestions. Thanks

BTW, I use besweet generally with hybridgain and normal drc and playback on a 2 speaker stereo.
I did a bit of a search and didn't come up with anything so sorry if it's been covered already.

If you want to raise the center downmix level just go in the "azid 1" section in Besweet and then put whatever gain you want on the center channel. Anyway I suggest you to leave this option unchecked and put to -3dB the surround downmix level if you are interested in surround encodings.

I know how to adjust the gain on the centre level, what I want to know is whats a good value to use, 0.5db, 1db, 3db?
I'm not sure what adjusting the surround downmix level will achieve, it doesn't sound like it has much to do with the centre level. I guess it has something to do with dolby surround encoding which isn't really important for me atm.
