Hi,
The TDX Rules (2002) says this about the AC3:
- AC3 MUST be interleaved at 64 or 96 ms.
1) Why they "recommend" this exactly?
2) How can I select one of those interleave options? In gordainknot 1 frame = 40ms, 2 frames = 80ms, 3 frames = 120ms, so I can't select either 64 o3 96.
3) I usally use 1 frame/40 ms is this good? Should I use the ones recommended in TDX Rules? If so how can I choose them?
Another thing, what is the --r3mix option for lame?
Thanks

Thanks for the answers I use the lattest gordianknot with VirtualDubMod and my AC3 audio plays very good with 1 frame/40ms.
What about the --r3mix option, what exactly is this, should I use it? I normally choose 128 VBR (no custom parameters)
I'm not discussing anything related to downloaded movies i guess

Hi and welcome to the forum.
1) Those rules are old now, and were written before the rise of VDubMod and AVIMuxGUI. Back then NanDub was used for muxing, and improper interleaving values for AC3 audio could leave you with an .avi that played jerky. If you use NanDub for muxing, it's pretty good advice actually. I usually use 96 ms myself.
2) You can't select those exact values in GKnot. But since it uses VDubMod for muxing, and since the default option works well, there's no need for the other TDX Rules options. If you still want to use them, you can mux the audio yourself with NanDub after the video encode completes. Go Audio-Interleaving to set the Preload, Interleaving, and Delay parameters.
3) The default options in GKnot are fine. Your AC3 audio plays well doesn't it? If you don't know, the easiest way to tell is to go find a panning scene (camera moving left to right or right to left) and the movement won't be smooth if you have improper interleaving values.
r3mix-it produces high quality MP3 audio. I think it's out of favor now, and if you want better quality mp3 than the usual -h --abr 128 (and with a larger file size), then you might try alt-preset standard.
Although I think your question is OK, since you're just asking about technical details, you should know that we ordinarily don't discuss downloaded movies. Please see this Sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?s=&forumid=6) for more details.
And I'm far from an audio expert (just ask DSPguru), so if anyone wants to elaborate on or correct anything I've said, then be my guest.
Edit-I was still editing when you wrote your response. There's a new section on r3mix now. :)
