seem like i found a way
i deinstalled ac3filter and windvd, and then i can change the powerdvd filter properties in vobsub
if it really decodes the 5.1 to DH remains to be seen

If you use zplayer you can relatively easily pull any filters you want in and out, you may have to learn to make the little configuration files that are required to manually connect up all the filters. I kinda played with this trick a bit once for exactly the reason you ask. As I remember the fx filters didn't load autmatically even if I was using windvd for ac3, but maybe the priority level can be changed on them.. zplayer has an interface for doing that. The bummer about zplayer's manual filter configs is that they are loaded based on file extension.. and of course not all your avi's will be ac3. I'd recomenend playing around with graphedit some if it comes to that so that you will know which filters you want to put in and in what order and what the pin names are and such.
I found the windvd filter controls finicky when used this way and I liked my Sensaura headphone stuff better anyway.
