Is there a difference between imgtool burn 1007 & nero's image recorder.

Am I right in saying that, if you have your video_ts folder ready for burning, you should create an image using imgtool burn? using the image recorder then burn the image with nero? or burn with imgtool?

I tried burning a dvd-r with imgtool 1007 straight from video_ts folder, but error half way through the burn.

Or should I create an image using classic image tool then burn with PrimoDVD, Nero or DVDecrypter.

All I really want to know is the best most popular method for getting from original dvd to dvd-r. I quite like dvdshrink then burn the video_ts folder in nero 6.0.1.1.1. Worked on 2 dvd-r's so far.

P.S I use clonedisc dvd-r's which are ritek's

Phew!! - Get stuck in then:)

First of all, i would like to say, that there is a special forum here at doom9 concerned with DVD-Burning. I suppose you get much more answers over there, for example the author of ImgTools "CouJo" is frequently visiting that froum:

I can only speak for myself, but ImgTool burn has never failed me and i would recommend using ImgTool burn to create an image and burn that to DVD. Nero ImageRecorder needs a lot of time to build an image and its output is an NRG-File which is not that compatible with other programs as an ISO-File. But I'm not saying that it doesn't work, i simply like to have ISO-files.

I tried burning a dvd-r with imgtool 1007 straight from video_ts folder, but error half way through the burn.

Try burning from the root directory (e.g. C:\NAME_OF_DVD\ ), where you put your VIDEO_TS folder and not from the VIDEO_TS folder (e.g. C:\NAME_OF_DVD\VIDEO_TS\ ), as ImgTools is checking if there is a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder present in that directory and if it's not, then it creates new folders, so I guess you get something like \NAME_OF_DVD\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS\ if you start from your VIDEO_TS folder on you harddrive.

Maybe switching to the root directory will work, as I have never encountered probs that way.

Or should I create an image using classic image tool then burn with PrimoDVD, Nero or DVDecrypter.

If everthing else fails and you want the most compatible DVD try ImgTool classic to build an ISO-File and burn it with DVD Decrypter.
