First of all, to the mods: I'm not too sure if this is the right place to post this, so feel free to move it to the appropriate forum if needed.
I'm having some problems playing PAL vcd files which I made (with nero if I'm not mistaken) few months ago. The first problem is that during playback using ZPlayer ver.3 the resolution is recognised as 522x288 instead of the correct 352x288, so the movie goes weirdly wide screen. Secondly, if I fast forward the clip, the screen hangs but the movie time still continues to move (no audio too). Thirdly, which is even stranger, if I open the movie using MPC (ver.6.4.5.9), it gives me message that filter is not installed. THe exact error message is as follows:

And when I click on the button 'Look for codecs on the net', it asks me to install directx, which I have already done (ver 9b).
The only software that doesn't have problem playing any of these files is PowerDVD. It also displays the correct resolution and I assume it's because it uses its own filter and all.
So what do you think the problem is? FYI, I also tried to convert the .dat files to .mpg using VCDGear with the 'Fix MPEG Errors' option ticked and unticked. But after conversion it got even worse - only PowerDVD can open it. And lastly, I don't have any of those codecs pack apart from the ones used by gordian knot (which I downloaded from doom9's main site).
