I am trying to make a single SVCD from a DVD that contains multiple episodes of a TV Series

When I ran DVD2SVCD, it only encoded a single eposide.

Any ideas? Has this question been answered before, and I missed it?

Thanks

Has people forgotten how to read? Or how else can you account for the fact that there has been more DVD2SVCD posts (3) in the DVD2AVI forum over the last week than I've seen since I started moderating the forum. Thread moved.

Hello jncall welcome to the forum.

If you want to keep out of trouble with the mod´s, please follow the
rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm)
I cant give you a good answer:confused:
As a matter of fact i was searching for this to a couple days ago. I sure know this has been discussed some times before.
But now i couldnt find the threads, maby they have been backed up and removed.
But maby someone will be cind enough to once more enlighten us with a briliant and simple solution for this?

Cheers

I ain't got a simple one but what I do is this.

Select your IFO in the conversion tab. Use the dropdown box for "movie length" to find the lengths of the different episodes.
Take note of the longest.

Then go to the bitrate tab
To fit x episodes per SVCD disc, the longest of which is length y, change the first line in the bitrate tab to read

Between (0) and (number > y) mins use (1) CD size (Actual size eg 800 divided by x)

Select "Don't make images" in the CD image tab and put the bbMPEG output folder to an empty folder but not your default movie folder.

Back to the conversion tab, in the movie length dropdown box select the first length ie episode one. Rip and convert this. When it's done, go into your output folder and rename the file "bbmpeg_muxed_file_00.mpg" to "episode1.mpg" (or whatever). Check this file plays ok in winDVD or PowerDVD. Then delete the contents of your default movie folder.

Next go back to your conversion tab and pick the next episode in the movie length dropdown box. Rip and convert this with the same settings and rename your final mpeg file "episode2.mpg"

Continue this until all your episodes are converted. Your once empty folder should now have x number of mpeg files of the required length to compile your SVCD(s). Either author image files with VCDEasy or author straight to disc with Nero.

I like Nero for the last job as it has an easy option to put a menu screen on the disc. Whatever you renamed to mpeg files to is what it uses on the menu screen.

@ jncall - if you're trying to squeeze an entire series of a TV programme on one SVCD it will be lousy quality. Convert the first episode as per these settings and author it onto a CD Rewritable. Play it back in your standalone and make sure you find the quality bearable before you convert the lot or you may have to start again!

There are less cumbersome ways to approach the multi-episode DVD but the above I find is foolproof.

Thanx nick

I will try this next time i have to back up short episodes.
But since d2s have worked fine for me i have never used vcdeasy or nero to author my svcd´s.
But i guess it should be be straigh forward??
