Hi,
I've some problems backing up a DVD with CCE on a PAL 4:3 interlaced material.
Both Bitrate Viewer and DVD2AVI told me that the film is interlaced (also i see black scanlines).
Also Bitrate Viewer give me this results about original Vobs:

Pic Structure: Frame
Field TopFirst: Yes
DCT Type: Field
Quant. Scale: Nonlinear
Scan Type: Alternate
Frame Type: Interlaced
Scene Change: FOUND
Variable GOP: NOT FOUND

Here's the problem: If I see the original DVD on TV I have no problems. If I see the backedup DVD (with CCE 2.50) I see the "ghost effect" during the scenes (the scene sometimes seems to "freeze" like if i'm going to transcode from NTSC to PAL and viceversa). (if this can helps...) If I see the backedup film with WinDVD in Bob mode all works ok, but if I play it in Progressive mode I give the same problem. So I'm thinking that the problem appear because TV works with Progressive material.. Am I right?
Anyway... the CCE settings I've checked are (using the guide and CCE FAQ):

Add sequence end code
Linear Quantizer Scale
DVD Compliant

All other settings are unchecked (upper field first, half H/V resolution, Progressive Frames, ZigZag scanning order, Quick Compression)

IntraDC precision is set to Auto.

Can someone help me? I've also tried CCE 2.67 with the same results. I'm thinking to activate Progressive Frames, but i'm not sure...
I'm using AviSynth 2.52 to frameserve CCE.

Thanks to all.

...forgot to say that the DVD is an animation DVD (Berserk).

I've fixed the problem...
The problem consist that i've set Quantizer Scale on Linear, where the original dvd have Non Linear Quantizer Scale.
This "difference" creates this strange ghost effects.
Anyway, I think the CCE guide is a bit incorrect because suggest to set Quant.Scale on Linear even if the original is set to Non Linear.

bump

i think bitrate viewer is a great tool telling us infos about the movie we're trying to encode
but as far as i've seen there is nowhere on doom9 a thread showing the right settings for CCE from the infos provided

Pic Structure: Frame
Field TopFirst: Yes
DCT Type: Field
Quant. Scale: Nonlinear
Scan Type: Alternate
Frame Type: Interlaced
and so on...

the CCE faq let my pretty confused :(

if such a thread or guide exists, please ping me in the right place :)

With the same BitRate Viewer results I've used these options (that give me great results)
These settings are for CCE 2.50:

Video Button:
Check only "Add sequence end code" and leave unchecked all other options.
Luminance Level set to "16 to 235"
Intra DC Precision on Auto
TimeCode set to 00:00:00:00

GOP:
Change only the N/M from 5 to 4

Quality Settings:
Image quality Priority set to 5
Deactivate the Anti noise filter.
