Just found this link to this program at CDRbase.com
Downloaded it - takes 4.37 mb but interface looks very easy to use.
Wizard style though. I have not tried it yet - anyone out there
tried this? And it only has 2 languages so far - English and Arabic.
FYI, it states it's freeware, and can use the Nero burning engine.
I'm not sure how it splits the movies - all extras on Disc 1 like DVDFab or the other way around.
As I personally hate menus and don't usually back up extras I have rare use for these types of programs. But for those who want a free alternative to DVDXCopy, this looks promising.

Thanks luphy.
The name of this program needs to be changed. The name sounds too much like 321 Studio's DVDXCopy Xpress software.

"The only information we collect is the session-specific IP address of the computer you are using to access our search and navigation services in order to deliver to you the most geographically-appropriate search results or websites"
good luck to those to venture to install this shady software on their computers.
edit: thanks I've added this to the scam list

I wonder if it does its job though. The EULA has a funny passage about shareware distributions that made me wonder if this isn't just a shareware that will one day stop working. It doesn't look like a dvdfab ripoff though, and what other splitting programs are there? it's not very sophisticated, you select an ifo, then you have to select which vobs go to which CD.. not very user friendly imho.. it doesn't even suggest a split point. I did not test further than that, because at that time my firewall detected an outgoing connection (the spyware) and that made me come back here.
I didn't notice the url in the scam list though.. it should at least be in some spyware list (we don't have any of those yet.. might be an idea to start one).

I put it in the scam list (overview sticky) like over 3 hours ago. How could you've missed it  I'll update it from now on. I'm sure there's a ton missing.
Anyway where is the spyware listed? In the EULA of course.

Heh I didn't even read the EUA.
And yes it seems there is a module of the program that will constantly seek to access the internet. I just have ZoneAlarm block it permanently.
And yeah when I first read the link to it about it being freeware, I figured someone was out of their minds because I thought it was referring to DVDXCopy and its Express.
Ah well maybe it still does a good job. But like I said I hate menus so I have no use for such programs personally. You can still make the spyware part useless by programming your firewall to block all access from that program.

Speaking of confusing names, CDFreaks.com (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/7758) posted an interesting article:
Now it seems that the company that released the 'fake' CloneDVD software has struck again since they have released software that looks a lot like the AnyDVD software, only under a different name, DVD X Ghost. The name of this product also sounds a lot like another software product we all know, namely DVD X Copy.
Last but not least, the name of the company behind DVD X Ghost, DVD X Studios, looks a lot like the name of another company we all know, 321 Studios, creators of DVD X Copy and DVD X Copy XPRESS. So it seems like the company behind DVD X Ghost couldn't even think up their own name..
These scammers are using slight variations of legit company names/products to confuse their victims into buying their products. And I fell for it as well. Good thing MrBass came along and warned us about it.

Yep, on that same page 3mB software are also at it it seems with a new competitor to RecDev from Engelmann or is it???
A company called 3MBTech has released software called CD Break which is being distributed via Burning Byte. Nothing wrong here, but the features mentioned on this Burning Byte website look a lot like the ones that are mentioned on Engelmann Media's RecDev website. Compare these two pages with features for example, Burning Byte and RecDev. Can you spot the differences? We sure can't...
Too much of this stuff going on right now, I posted that thread luphy btw at cdrbase a while back but as mrbass said it def has spyware in it. I've still not as yet had time to try it out to see if the prog is any good or not though, I see they also do an all-in-one DVD>VCD/Divx conversion prog too:- http://www.dvdripnburn.com/
