hi,

i get a system freeze in XP when i do two video processes at once....eg if im converting an avi file to mpeg using CCE, and at the same time i go to watch an mpeg, i get a freeze and have to manually shut down and reboot... Or if im converting an avi using procoder, i get a total freeze also if i try and edit a video in Vegas....basically any other combination also.

My guess is that theres some problem with WinXP and the way it handles multiple access to video codecs...is this reasonable? anyone else have this problem?

Many thanks,
Blackout

Your system is probably overheating
- there is no problem with multithreading on my system but untill last week I had the same problem.
Its hot here in Germany right now and my CPU fan couldn't cope.
So - I got new CPU fan and removed the side pannel of the case till the heat wave is over.
Now it will do anything.....

BTW your Thread Title is not in accordance to the forum rules.

hi maa, thanks i had a feeling it could also be that too, i read that AMD processors only process some of the multimedia functions, i wander if it might be an AMD thing. r u using an AMD? mine is an xp2400+

also i changed the topic, thanks for the tip. apologies.

Yes its an Athlon.

Have a look in the bios at the hardware monitor.
