Hi I have the latest version of Photoshop. Photoshop 7. For my DVD-my artwork, I have pictures of people. I want to design the artwork all black & white. So for the pictures I want to make them as sketches of like a picuture sketch (the persons picture sketched out) black & white. Can you please tell me how to do this or what plugins I need?

Filters > Brush Strokes :)

The colors set for foreground and background will determin the colors used by the filter.

Try using Photoshop's own filters first. I think you can achieve what you want without resorting to plugins. Here's some you can try:
Under Filter menu, choose Artistic, plenty options here, but try Rough Pastels and play with the settings, then after applying the filter just Desaturate the image to get black and white result. Or you can try Find Edges under Stylize filter, then Desaturate again. Then there's Brush Strokes filter, just play around and I think you'll get it. :)

Without a better description of what you desire for your end product, I really wouldn't know how to advise you. As I'm sure you know, there are so many options in PS, you can literally go blind looking and testing. Along with the other good suggestions here, you could try Menu > Filters > Artistic > Sketch, and play with those options.

My best advice, would be to get with the people on one of the Photoshop forums. I'm sure that many of the members here at Doom9 are expert in the use of PS, but you'll get more looks and replies if you're in one of the forums devoted to its use. Good luck!
