would it be illegal for a person to start a divx trading forum website (that has nothing to do with doom9.org) where no files were hosted on the site, the forum was to be just used for setting up trades and letting the traders figure out the file transfer method on their own? Because i am sick of all the crappy stuff on Kazaa, so many of the Divxs that they have to offer are just main steam junk (not that all main stream things are junk) And so many of the divxs are of poor quality. It would be nice if there was a place for ppl who know what they are doing could trade good Divxs with each other.

6) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained movies! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking or offering in any way or form is not tolerated.
Now then as for your question why not use other file sharring programs??? Have you heard of DC++ or Bit Torrent?

you can't pose a question like that on doom9 forums and not expect to get two strikes. I hope you get striked...here's to wishing.

i am just asking for legal advise about digital media and what you can and can not talk about on forums, not this forum inparticular. my original post was misleading, and i have edited it

Here's a simple, straight-forward answer to your question - yes.
It is illegal to knowingly promote or assist in any illegal activity.

It doesn't matter how you put it, when you're sharing movies, you're violating the law! Quit trying to make it seem legitimate in any form.

Its like sharing music...Sharing music is illegal EVEN if you own the original. What makes you think sharing video is legal in any form while sharing music is illegal?
