Im using a 2.6 800fsb p4 with ht,on an asus mobo p4p800 deluxe with 2x512mb dual @ 400mhz ram.

It takes about 6 hours for audio encoding, 2 pass divx 5.0.5 encoding with gmc,qpel and bidirectional enabled and lanczos for the encoding, and final mux,of a 90-100 minute movie.

Is that time okay?Am i too slow or normal?

gmc, qpel, and b-frames slow you down allot. Try making a rip without any of those options and see how fast your P4 can go. Also plz post your fps, not your time.

I got a tbird 1ghz
768 pc133 sdram

and sport about 18fps on avg w/ divx 5.05, bidi, no qpel, no gmc, no psycho, 250 interval keyframes, no profile.

Qpel is probably soaking up the most time, it generally increases encoding time quite a bit, bframes increases encoding time but not by a huge amount and gmc doesn't make much difference at all from memory.
Qpel should generally be used on high quality encodes only so you may be able to do without it in which case you should see a good drop in encoding times.
Considering the settings your using it does seem about right, in other words it doesn't sound like there's something terribly wrong.

NOW using bilinear,qpel,gmc and b-frames im getting 14-20 fps at first pass.
is that good/ok?

Moreover,since i began using lanczos(i did it together with qpel) i find that sometimes around objects (like faces) little blurries exist.I hope u get what i mean.I mostly do 1 cd copies and with 5.0.2 and bilinear i had not much of these problems(without qpel).
Could that be qpel creating them,or lanczos?

It seems to me it's probably mainly due to qpel, this is a quote from a guide off divx.com written by Gej

The main drawback is processing time, it had a lot to the encoding and decoding time, the other drawback is that it's not very well suited for low bitrate, in order to have the maximum gain from the Q pel, a bit/pixel ratio of 3 is a minimum (640x480 @ 1000 kbps bit/pixel ratio=(1000*1000)/(640x480)=3.25 or 320x240 @ 300 kbps bit/pixel ratio=(300*1000)/(320x240)=3.9), if the bitrate is too low, some little blocks can show up in the video.

Lanczos does take more cpu time over bilinear but I'd say qpel is what's taking up the most. If your not going to use Lanczos I suggest neutral bicubic because bilinear is very soft, neutral bicubic is a good middle of the range resizer, not too sharp, not too soft.
I never use qpel myself but if my only concern was the highest quality I'd be looking at lanczos resize with qpel, I'd make sure I was using a suitable bitrate for qpel though.
