View Full Version : DVD Shrink 3 Beta 3

I have always used 2.3 up until this beta arrived. Now, when I shrink using either automatic or manual compression, it shrinks just as I would expect, but when I go to burn the files with ever-trusty Nero (version 6) it errors before burn stating file allocation is incorrect, or something along those lines and will not proceed, yet with 2.3 it works fine.
Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated as this fine tool looks set to stand its own alongside some of the (very) costly alternatives.

I personally don't know this problem with Nero, because i don't use it for burning DVD's.
But i would recommend Imgtool 1.00.7, it uses the latest NeroApi and supports Nero 6.
It allocates the DVD-Files in a correct manner and burns them. It's simple, free, has never failed me and you don't need to buy and install another burning programm.
Here's the download link:

For more information look at the news of www.doom9.org hompepage.

Thank you for that SirCentipede.
Your suggestion is most excellent (oops, a bit Bill & Ted there).
I shrunk The Exorcist with Beta3 so I will give it a whirl and let you know.

From Nero, any version, I only got problems in the past. I think their team have serious problem understanding the standards. No matter which program I have used for dvd compression/re-authoring (and I have used most in the past), when I was using Nero to burn I had problems. And frankly many-many others in doom9 forums...
Another alternative to what SirCentipede said, which I use, is do the ISO image first (with the old ImgTools089 or Maestro) and then burn with Decrypter. This method is *impossible* to fail you for many reasons :D:D:D
(By the way: Nero is my definite and favourite tool for burning data and I have nothing against it part from movie DVD burning :))

Cheers for that Yannis.
I am beginning to agree with both of you.
Nero has always been 'ever trusty' up until this new version of shrink.
As I don't think I will be using an alternative to shrink, it's time to move on with a different burning prog.

Did you all hear about the bug in nero 6 that if your temp directory is a root directory and you have it clear the temp at close down it will toast the whole drive? :) Classic bug..

To all
I went ahead (no pun intended) and burnt with Image Tool and it error at 4 speed (media is ok), I have kept the bug report if you want to see it).
Tried at 2x and it worked fine.
So I tried Nero at 2x and that worked fine.
Both copies played with no probs in standalone player.
Any suggestions.

@molman2003
I can't explain this to u, as i didn't have these probs, but y don't u try this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38178
It's from the DVDburning forum here at doom9.org and is concerned with ImgTool. BTW the author of ImgTool ("CouJo") drops in every now and then and answers your question.
I think u can get the support you need over there.

I could be wrong, but I think ImgTools089 won't include files/folders other than VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS in the ISO. So, if there's a JACKET_P, etc., it gets left out.
