2 questions: File extension and quality

Hey everyone, whats up?

I need to know some things...

1. When i use some program to encode movies with Xvid, i must save it as avi, or can it be saved as mpeg?

2. Is there any way to improve the quality of my movie when im encoding it with Xvid? in the advanced options or something...

1. XviD only works with container formats - like avi / ogm / matroska

2. Do a 2 pass encode with all the fancy stuff enabled ;) (qPel / max VHQ / chroma motion / lumi masking)
Also look into the FAQ and use the search function.

communist I hope you were being sarcastic otherwise you should check out the newbie settings thread too. Lumi masking is a difinite no and has been for quite some time.

1. He wanted MPEG. The MPEG-4 analogous container is MP4. You can transmux XviD (i.e. MPEG-4 Video) from AVI to MP4.

2. What they said. Lumi Masking = incomplete.

I'm quite new to XviD and last time I read something about the settings it was recommended- well you learn something new every day :D

i don't really care witch format to use... it is just that i heard that Xvid is MPEG 4
