Any help in transfering dv video to vcd? Newbie

Hi Everyone :)

Ok now i am back from me hols i have about 6 hrs of video on my dv camcorder and want to put it on cd???

I have got it connected to my pc by firewire cable!

I have got Mgi videowave 5 , neo dvd standard 2.0
And this came with camcoder jlip video capture and producer.

So don't know what one is best for capture and editing?

And any tips on using the best one :)

Then i need to get it to size for disc burning !

I will get a dvd burner when i can afford one but just vcd will do for now

Any help anyone in doing it and how

i am also a newbie, so if I am wrong I apologize. To transfer it to a vcd is rather simple, transfer it to a pc with any program and then use tmpgenc(.net) to make it into a vcd. It should work, except quality always blows for me. And expect 1 hour of dv to be about 13GB, that's the size I get. Sorry If I didn't help.

I'd prefer SVCD if I were you, because of the much better quality. For information on how to create a VCD or an SVCD refer to the guides. It's not very DV specific.

Once upon a time I had a VideoWave 5 SE version, and I can tell you that it's good for cutting and editing, but forget about the integrated MPEG encoder. Better use TMPGEnc; it comes with profiles for VCD and SVCD, and you get excellent quality compared to many other encoders.
