Hi there,

I just recently done the JOE_SOMEBODY which created a file called

JOE_SOMEBODY_Forcefilm.avi

which has 2 streams and was encoded with 2 Audio streams, english and spanish. I encoded at 1.5Gb and it works like a dream.

I also have some more files that were created from GordianKnot which are

JOE_SOMEBODY_ChapterX5.txt
JOE_SOMEBODY.sub.cc
JOE_SOMEBODY.sub.cc.raw
JOE_SOMEBODY.sub.cc.srt
JOE_SOMEBODY.sub.cc.unicode.srt

THe problem is I have tried both Core media player and zoom player standard edition to try and play the subtitles and move through the chapters but can't seem to get it to work.

I followed the doom9 guide to the letter but still can't get it to display subtitles and move through chapters.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong?

Maybe I am using a player that doesn't support it..

I would appreciate if anyone can help, the multi audio works a treat!

Thanks

Ian

You need to use the OGM or MKV in order to use the chapters. The subtitles also need to be muxed in, but you can load them externaly with VobSub Autoloading filter. OMG and MKV support subtitles and chapters natively, but make sure you have the newest version of MKV.

Hi there,

I have heard of OGM before but not MKV... Anyway just been doing a little bit of research on MKV and it looks really nice.

I wonder if you could recommend either 1 or the other. I heard OGM had some problems with AC3 sound which my AVI's currently have

I presume MKV is a little newer that OGM but any ideas which direction I should go in?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Well OGM just became open source and has problems with AC3 muxed with Ogg. But that should be fixed hopefully by the next release.

MKV is the Matroska standard and I've made 1 so far since the new release last week. I can say that it's the same as OGM, but it supports SSA subtitles if you know what those are, and it supports AAC audio. I heard OGM does too now though using CoreAAC to decode.

Well anyway's look into the newest VDubMod release and find out for yourself which one you like more. I'm torn between the newest MKV and my old favorite OGM which i've been using since Tobias released the 0.9.9.1 OggDS.
