Century Optics 16:9

Just curious if any of you have used or own one of these optical 16:9 anamorphic adaters from Century Optics? Do you like or dislike it? Reasons?
I know that I'd have to resize the frames after transfering it to the computer so that the anamorphic 16:9 picture comes out right, so my other question is what NTSC pixel frame size would I use? Would the aspect ratio be 1.2?

Just asking because I may be in the market for one of these adapters. If I bought one I'd have to buy one with a 37mm threaded one not a bayonet mount one.

as far as premiere or other NLE programs go, just tell them that you're working in 16:9 NTSC DV, and it'll make the changes for you.

it's best to leave it in the frame size it came (squished), unless you really need to change it, so you don't have to recompress the video.

FYI i would LOVE one of these lenses. if i knew how to grind glass lenses myself, i'd make one.

Don't know how the quality would be for camcorder use, but you might want to check out www.diyaudio.com - There are 1-2 threads on DIY anamorphic lenses in the Projectors forum.

The nice thing is that anamorphic lenses aren't convex or concave lenses - They're prisms! A single prism will work, but will cause chromatic aberrations. Hence almost all anamorphic lenses use dual prisms of differing material types. (Same idea as achromatic convex/concave lenses.)
