View Full Version : Multi-title, multi-menu on DVD-5?

I borrowed a friend's dvd-9 movie disc and it had 3 movies on it, opening with the creator's logo and then going onto the movie selection menu, with each movie having its complete and working menu structure, (scene selection, audio selection, subtitles)
Apart from the obvious difference in disc size between DVD-9 and 5, would it be possible to create a multi-movie, multi-menu disc directly from decrypted DVD's (ifo, vob?) files onto a standard DVD-5, (WITHOUT having to demux and then re-author again), or do DVD-9s have physically different structures that enable this type of disc creation? And are there any guides for this if it is possible?

Thanx,

Hi atropos,

in my opinion DVD9 has the same structure (except the layer break) as DVD5. If you do not want to re-author (you have to reduce the size of you vob files) you have to transcode. I do not use "one click backup solution" tools like DVD Shrink or DVD2ONE but if you want to reduce size without re-authoring they are made for this purpose ;).

Iīm not sure about guides but you can try to search the forum, there are plenty threads dealing with this problem in this forum.

Thanx, coona. I already have the correct size movies I want to burn. but now I need to know how to add my own intro as the first play followed by a movie select menu while still keeping the movies' DVD ifo/vob structure intact and unaltered.

You want to keep all as it is and add new video/still to play when disc is inserted into player?? You canīt add something to your compilation without changing navigation structure. You can try post in Ifo/vob editors section. There are people with huge knowlegde (2COOL for example). You can make some research, but I guess it wont be so easy...
