I was backing up Roy Orbison's Black and White Night and I noticed that theres a difference in the tonal quality of an ac3 file before and after muxing (using AVI mux). The ripped ac3 sounds identical to the DVD played through WinDVD. But the final divx sounds more dull and has more bass than the original DVD. To ensure that the player wasn't the cause of this - I played both the divx and DVD through WinDVD. The point at which the sound changes seems to happen during muxing. Could it be possible that AVImux does alter the tone/volume in some way? And how do I prevent that? Thanks for the help.
