Is Hibernating a Problem?

is there a probability of error on hibernation of windows after or in between any of the passes?.or is it possible to resume encoding the rest on next start of windows-may be the next day.Please reply the possiblities.

Techinically it shouldn't interrupt the encoding (by that, I mean produce errors), but since when has Microsoft had anything that worked the way it should? Personally, I wouldn't risk having to re-encode. Couldn't hurt to try with a short clip though. Let us know the results.

Works with XviD (cant be bothered to test it with other codecs since I dont use em ;) ).
I ran VirtualDub 1.5.4 with first pass XviD (all the fancy stuff enabled) and hibernated in the midle of encoding. Started again and it 'resumed' encoding where it left when I hibernated.
Done the same with 2nd pass XviD (same file as in 1st pass while hibernating).

I set file size to 12480kb but ended up with 13866 - forget the audio ;)
Without audio > 12510.

Though I would first do some hibernating test on your comp before doing it during 'important' encodes - rarely by comp doesnt start up from hibernation mode and I have to delete hibernation file and boot it in 'normal-mode'.
