There's a new version of that DS avi parser. It should be better then standard with reading broken | unfinished avi files.

I didn't find changelog so maybe someon will post it.

But now I didn't find it better. It just now pause when there is a gap in file and after pressing play returnes to beginning ( header and index are ok ). Am I doing something wrong?

It can be set in Mplayer Classic in options filter( block, merit etc). I don't know if it will work cause I lost standard windows splitter after uninstalling avisplitter.ax and have 2 identical now.

If you use newest ZoomPlayer 3.20 beta1, you can see, that gabest's avisplitter is used as defaulf now. It has higher MERIT than quartz.dll.

There's new fixed version "Avi Splitter 1.0.0.2"

"Changes: - unregistering it won't remove the media type association of avi files for the async reader"

So after uninstalling avisplitter.ax there's no need to install quartz.dll again.
