Why InterVideo DVD Copy is the best solution for you:

Format Support

DVD to DVD
DVD to VCD/SVCD
DVD to DivX® CD
DVD to your hard drive in MPEG-1/2 or DivX®
Fast Copying

UniPass® -- UniPass is InterVideo's patent-pending technology that
integrates DVD creation and editing together. UniPass doesn't use
multiple rendering passes and simple editing fixes do not need to
be re-rendered, so this can save you hours of time while making
copies.
Direct Burn -- Eliminate buffering video on the hard drive before
burning. The Direct Burn feature copies from your DVD-ROM drive
directly to your CD or DVD burner without any waiting, making it:
4 times faster in copying to VCD
2 times faster in copying to DVD
Unbeatable Quality

InterVideo's IBBP (InterVideo's Bitrate Balance Profile) makes sure
your duplicates match the quality of the original. Make true
quality 1:1 copies of your DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs without
transcoding.
Zero Video Fluctuation -- Transfer DVD 9 dual layer to DVD 5 single
layer with no change in visual quality.
Incredible VCD Output Quality
Copy All Content With No Loss

Retain DVD Features -- Keep the DVD features like menus, trailers,
languages, and more.
All Content Transferred -- Keep everything on the DVD, even if
copying to VCD/SCVD. Other product can only copy half or lose
content.
Auto Fit

Dual Layer DVDs to Single DVD -- Compress a 9.4 GB dual layer DVD
to 4.7GB with no loss of content or quality.
9.4GB to 650MB DivX CD

Burn hard drive DVD-Videos or disc images to CD or DVD -- Load your
image files as a source drive and copy them onto a CD or DVD. Most
of our competitors only support one VIDEO_TS folder loading, but
with InterVideo DVD Copy you can load as many as you need.

Edit your DVD-Videos -- InterVideo DVD Copy lets you pick and
choose the elements of your DVD - remove subtitles, cut
commercials, copy only some chapters.

Note: InterVideo DVD Copy cannot be used to copy CSS-encrypted
discs.

so if it doesn't transcode, then does it re-encode? how do they prepose that it the file is shrunk to fit on a dvd-5? Charm and good looks? magic?...

sounds like a bunch of hoopla to me, i'll believe it when i try it out :D

I've tried InterVideo DVD Copy. It works very well. I was quite impressed with the results. It works very well for transfering DVD 9 dual layer to DVD 5 single layer with almost no change in visual quality. I now use it more than DVD Shrink, which I thought was a Godsend. I like how simple it is to use with the quality it produces.
I would highly recommend this product.

This does no transcoding nor does it split to two DVD±Rs. Why you'd want to pony up $60 for it is beyond me when dvddecrypter is free and does the same thing and much more like decrypting the dvd which intervideo dvd copy can't do.

It's been discussed before

Maybe its a new version as it says it can copy a DVD9 to a single DVD5.
I find this sentence very interesting:

Dual Layer DVDs to Single DVD -- Compress a 9.4 GB dual layer DVD to 4.7GB with no loss of content or quality.

yees, of course :D maybe it zips the dvd :D

First of all... it DOES split to 2 dvds if you uncheck the option 'Fit to One DVD'. Maybe instead of bashing the program you should check it out for yourself. The quality can compete with any other program on the market if not better.

Just tried it with my test dvd and after i first shock ( i have to use my second pc wich color deep was only set to 16bit  ) it seems to be just as bad as the other transcoders, it cannot compete with instantcopy for example. And the result was to big.
No Quality loss - what a joke.

Please show me a changelog cuz on their homepage it still says:
"Make true quality 1:1 copies of your DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs without transcoding."
It only does 1:1 copy of a DVD --> DVD±R if it's a DVD-5. Yes it's splits to two mpegs which isn't DVD but SVCD or VCD.

Yes I have checked it out 2 months ago and promptly deleted it. Honestly this software reminds me of all those shady dvd copy products out there on the market. You'd expect better from the producers of WinDVD.

Mr. Bass,

It will now do DVD9 to DVD5. Download the latest version.

Tested it on my favorite test movie.

The interface sucks. It is confusing and when I just select one title I still get the menu but somehow my audio is screwed up. Its 192KB dolby 2.0 instead of the ac3 5.1 stream I selected.

Video Quality is Ok, but I have the same fastforward/backward issues I have with Instantcopy.

Just deleted it again from my hardrive.

ok my mistake. I know the initial version in early June did no transcoding. I added it to the list. BTW, they did lower the price $10 from $60 to $50.

I downloaded and tested Intervideo DVDcopy last night on Takashi Miikes "Graveyard of Honor" (125 min., PAL). The original movie is very grainy, so its quite a hard job for every transcoder.

IMHO i think the transcoding picture quality of DVDcopy is on par with let's say CloneDVD. It tends to have some macroblocks in slow scenes and lot's of them in action scenes, but that's what i expected on such a long and grainy movie.
Transcoding is quite fast (it took 30 min.), but as DVDRFreak said, the interface sucks. It's distracting and doesn't give you all the information you might want to have like for example compression ratio.

But what i do like about DVDcopy is that you can choose which chapters you want to transcode on a given movie and the extraction of unwanted extras works quite good. I extracted the legal warnings and some trailers: My transcoded DVD started without problems with the menu and didn't show the legal warnings at all. I clicked on the trailers in the extras menu and the screen went black for a frame and then jumped back to the menu.

I wish DVDshrink had this feature to remove unwanted titles completely (and not just in still pictures)while keeping the original menu.

But in the end picture quality is what I'm looking for in every Transcoding tool, therefore i stick to DVDshrink or Recode which did a better job on this movie or to IC7 which is IMHO the best transcoding-tool for a long and difficult (grainy) movie.
