It's just that Producer now (from Milestone 5) automatically sets large packet sizes for high bitrates, and the customPacketSize parameter is no longer needed. There will be a new high level Producer parameter, just like the custom codec encoderComplexity moved up in the tool chain.

The codec customPacketSize does not harm, it is just not required any longer. There is a minor difference in that Producer sets it to 15,000, I have recommended 16,000. Either is fine.

This is how we develop new features now: Codec team implements the ground breaking new features as codec features only, to be set via custom codecProperties, because this way I don't need any changes in Producer code, or Producer QA verification, to add a new codec feature. Then as they get used, tested, and their value accepted and the Producer team has time, the option may or may not be moved into Producer as a higher level option.

For instance, in Milestone 6 there will be a couple of new codec options that will probably never move to Producer, since they are for tweakers only. You also know about the calcPSNR option, which will also not be moved to Producer.
