I didn't know very much about that.So I want to help.
When I compress movie and anime,How much bitrate is good for using??
How do we determine ??

Set the bitrate as high as you can endure. Higher bitrate, nicer picture. But it's not quite limitless; there ain't much sense in aiming at a 2nd pass that takes up more space than, say, 65% of the first pass. I mean to say, the right bitrate very much depends on the individual movie. If it's OK for you to pack no more than 1 hour onto 1 CD, I think you'll be content with the results in any case.

If filesize is an issue, it depends on how much quality you want to sacrifice for saving space - and vice versa.

i use whatever bitrate corresponds to between .2 and .25 bpp
anything less than that, doesn't look so hot, and anything more, is usually overkill :)

if you need 4 mbit/s to get a satisfying result, mpeg-2 might be the path to choose :)

nah, relly you can't answer the bitrate question in a general manner. it depends on the source content and quality, the target environment (PC/DVD player, TV/CRT/TFT/rear projector, resolution etc) and probably most important on the person that watches it :)

i think for every bitrate between roughly 400 and 4000 you will find someone to say its the perfect balance...

oh, my own bid is 1000-1200 kbits for Xvid anime 640x480 to watch on TFT, without excessive prefiltering and without having to turn on the postprocessing (i hate PP)

Mostly 2D CG animation at 30FPS and 640X480.

I'm only using this as a test clip since it's rather uncompressible and shows off all the things that MPEG4 is known to be bad for.
