Hi there,
Can anyone confirm what is the best size in gknot to resize to if I intend to out the the picture to a TV 16:9?? I didn't want to resize too much as when output to tv it would have to stretch it again.
Regards

Don't resize at all. Leave the video as anamorphic, and let the TV do the resizing on playback. There was a discussion either in this forum or the DivX5 forum a little while back on the issue.

Personally I think that resizing to 16.9 in gordianknot is more suitable, as it allows you to view the film on a 4.3 television or monitor without any aspect ratio correction.
I have my pc connected to my widescreen television, and if I watch an anamorphic film I simply stretch the aspect ratio while it's playing using zoom player - IMO it's the best proggie for people who use tv out, give it a try :)
Because of the television's low resolution there is little to no noticeable quality loss using this method when watching on a tv, and you save a lot of bitrate than if you use no resizing at all.

i cut 72 off each side for widescreen movies (2.35:1)
using gordian knot. The result pretty much
fills my widescreen tv.
