I think this topic is most fitting here...
I've done a few searches already, and I didn't come across anything helpful.
I have a AVSEQ01.MPG from a SVCD. I don't have the SVCD disk, nor do I have the BIN/CUE. I don't think the means of how I got the file is important.
Although, I'd like to know if there's a way to 'extract' a watchable MPEG from the AVSEQ01.MPG. If there is, please do tell me. If it was already answered, please forward me to the thread.
Thank you.

You're wrong, especially on this board.
The mpg is already watchable, but it's MPEG-2 if it is from SVCD. It is playable as long as you have MPEG-2 playback filters, you'll probably need DVD playback software. Once you have that installed, play it in the DVD player or Media Player Classic or Zoom Player Professional or many others.

I don't think the means of how I got the file is important.Sorry, I meant that the file DID come from a SVCD disk. I downloaded the file; I don't own the disk.
Yes, the AVSEQ01.MPG is playable in DVD Software. I successfully played it in PowerDVD. I also have the MPEG-2 Playback filter, which allows me to player MPEG-2 videos in Windows Media Player. The AVSEQ01.MPG, however, does not play.
When I create a MPEG-2 on TMPGEnc or whatever, that file plays in Windows Media Player and DVD Software. When I burn it as SVCD, the resulting MPEG on the SVCD is AVSEQ01.MPG. The original MPEG and the MPEG on the SVCD are not the same exact file.
I'm asking if there is any way to get the original MPEG file from the AVSEQ01.MPG, or a MPEG file that can be played in Windows Media Player.
I don't have the SVCD disk or the BIN/CUE, so I really can't use VCDGear or IsoBuster to extract the MPEG.
Thanks again.

if it didn't matter how you got the file, then you shouldn't have mention it.
forum rule #6 prohibit the discussion of downloaded movies in anyway related.
the avseq01.mpg should play like that of a *.dat from a vcd; but then again, it didn't actually come from a svcd.
does it play in your dvd player? (if you have one)

The AVSEQ01.MPG plays in DVD Software. It worked in my PowerDVD. I can't actually test it on my DVD Player because I don't have the SVCD disk.
Is there a way to burn the AVSEQ01.MPG as a SVCD?

i'm confused, 1st you said it played in powerdvd, then you said it didn't, and now you says it does; care to explain?
Nero -> Super Video CD(Svcd) and load your avseq01.mpg and burn.
if your can't view your svcd file on your computer, then it might be pointless to burn a svcd, cause it probably won't play in your dvd player.

Sorry for the confusion. I'll try to sort it out.
I have a AVSEQ01.MPG file that came directly off the SVCD disk onto my computer. I don't have that SVCD disk, however.
* * * * * * * * * *
AVSEQ01.MPG:
DVD Software (PowerDVD) - Playable
Windows Media Player (I have the MPEG-2 Filter) - *Not* Playable
DVD Player connected to TV (Burned as SVCD) - Unknown
Encoded-MPEG2.mpg (any mpeg encoded in tmpg, or cc, or wherever. i don't have this file, it's just used for sake of the comparison):
DVD Software (PowerDVD) - Playable
Windows Media Player (I have the MPEG-2 Filter) - Playable
DVD Player connected to TV (Burned as SVCD) - Playable
* * * * * * * * * *
Fact: The AVSEQ01.MPG is not the same exact file as the MPEG-2 that was encoded in tmpg, or cc, or wherever.
Priliminary testing:
Nero- I tried loading the AVSEQ01.MPG in Nero under the SVCD Template. Had a standard compliancy error (invalid video stream: 25 frames/second, 352x576 pixels).
VCDImager- **ERROR: input mpeg stream has been deemed invalid -- aborting
Question 1: Is there a way to obtain the original MPEG-2 from the AVSEQ01.MPG?
Question 2: Is there a way to burn the AVSEQ01.MPG back onto a disk as SVCD so that it will play in my DVD Player?

Q1, don't know how, but avseq01.mpg is almost the same as the original.
Q2, those resolution are for CVD http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/98177.php

What you can do is open up VCDEasy, use the MPEG Tools and do a Cdxa2mpeg which will convert the SVCD mpeg w/Riff header to a "true" MPEG file. HeHe , I just did the exact same thing today :)
